The A Team missed an opportunity to consolidate their position at the top of Division 3 when they conceded 3 on the final end of their match against local rivals Potton to lose by just one shot.
Unusually Malcolm, Bill and Paul were always behind on their rink, and when Ray, Robin and Keith finished 8 shots ahead having lead at one stage by 18, needed to concede no more than one to seal a victory for the team.
But to the obvious elation of at least one Potton player, it was not to be, and with two title rivals winning the A Team slipped to third.
With two wins in two days GB A Team have lifted themselves from 5th to top of Division 3 of the EBL, where just 1 point separates the top 4 teams.
On Monday they travelled to then leaders Flitwick B and recorded 2 comfortable rink wins (Robin, Ray and Keith 22 – 10, and Malcolm, Bill and Paul 18 – 11).
They followed this on Tuesday with a much more nail biting home victory over Shefford B. Malcolm, Bill and Paul romped to a 29 – 7 rink win but the team needed nearly every shot as Ray, Keith and debutant Danny struggled against strong opposition. In the end they were relieved to finish 7 – 25 behind to give their side a 4 shot victory.
Finishing with games against Potton, St Andrews (both at home) and Riverain (away), it looks as if the A Team could have an exciting end to the season after a hesitant start to Division 4 following promotion last year.
